Blunt: US Senate doesn't have votes to ax Affordable Care
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri's Republican U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt said the Senate doesn't have enough votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Blunt told reporters after a Wednesday discussion at a Jefferson City hospital that the focus now should be on addressing concerns with the health care overhaul law.
The visit to the Jefferson City hospital was one of several stops planned this week to speak with health care workers across Missouri. Blunt said he wants feedback on Democratic President Barack Obama's health care law.
Blunt said he's interested in hearing about the impact on rural hospitals. He also noted interest in how the overhaul has affected urban hospitals, which he said might have high numbers of patients with health insurance or those on Medicaid.
