Board of Curators Discuss Future of University Programs

COLUMBIA - The UM Board of Curators discussed a number of changes to the state's public universities on Friday, September 14, 2012. Potential changes to funding have caused a number of concerns for university officials as the state proposes cuts to higher education funding.

On the November ballot,voters will decide if the state's cigarette tax will increase. This tax increase will go toward funding higher education.

The chancellors from all of the state's public universities discussed what they would do with the extra money .

The medical school will experience some staffing changes in the coming months.

The dean of the University of Missouri Medical School will retire on November 1st and Dr. Leslie Hall will become the interim dean.

UM President Tim Woolf also announced he would be hosting a twitter town hall meeting in October.
