Bogle and Evans Earn Capital One Academic All-America Honors
COLUMBIA -- Columbia basketball players Kaitlin Bogle and Taylor Evans were selected to the Third Team of the Capital One Academic All-American College Division Women's and Men's Basketball Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Monday.
The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® basketball teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
Bogle, a 5-10 forward, has played in all 28 contests for the Lady Cougars this season, averaging 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Kaitlin has a perfect 4.0 grade point average while majoring in Business Administration.
Evans, a four-year senior for the Cougars, is dropping in eight points and grabbing four rebounds per contest this season while starting 23 of the 28 games played in 2011-12. A Business Management major, Evans has a 3.90 GPA.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
