COLUMBIA - The Boone County Regional Sewer District said Friday it has received a $438,000 loan from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
The sewer district plans to use the loan to get rid of the Arrowhead Lake Estates treatment plant and the University Estates lagoon. It also plans to build a new collection system. A force main and a gravity line will be built to connect the subdivisions to the city of Columbia's wastewater treatment plant.
The money is a combined effort between the department and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to give cost-effective financing for clean water infrastructure improvements.
The loan funds will be administered by the Department of Natural Resources' Water Protection Program.
