Boone County Clerk web updates aim to improve speed and efficiency
COLUMBIA – The Boone County Clerk’s office announced new online services that will increase efficiency for residents and the county.
Users will soon be able to register to vote, change their address and request an absentee ballot online.
The new services will begin on Friday.
Previously, residents were required to print and mail in forms.
The county hopes the changes will save paper, decrease voters' time and improve overall efficiency in the clerk’s office.
“We still review every form submitted, but these upgrades will save us the added step of printing or scanning on our end. These upgrades continue our philosophy of innovation and improvement, while protecting the integrity of our voter registration system,” said Boone County Clerk Taylor Burks.
The clerk’s office is also working towards improving security and efficiency in transferring vote data to the Secretary of State.
The electronic interface between the two systems is estimated to save the state $80,000 a year.
