COLUMBIA - Members of the Boone County Fire Protection District met Wednesday afternoon to discuss what ongoing projects need to be prioritized.

After the position of the director of the Office of Emergency Management was eliminated, the responsibilities were divided between two agencies- Joint Communications and the Office of Emergency Management.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss projects in both offices that need to be finalized.

Those projects within joint communications are the 911 non-emergency phone system upgrade and the enhancement of radio communication coverage throughout Boone county.  The Office of Emergency Management prioritized the replacement of old sirens to meet 2013 standards.

The group plans to meet every Wednesday until it feels that everything is finalized after this change.
