BOONE COUNTY - Boone County firefighters responded to a burning home north of Midway after neighbors called it in.

The fire on Elizabeth St. took about an hour to put out.

Captain Jay Niemeyer said firefighters were unable to enter the house when they arrived because it was too dangerous.

While he didn't have an estimate on the amount of damage, Captain Niemeyer said the flames primarily came from the back of the house.

He said the department contacted the residents, but they were not home when the fire started.

There were no reported injuries.
