BOONVILLE - The Boonville City Council voted to approve the appointment of Mr. John R. "Bobby" Welliver as its next Chief of Police Wednesday.

Welliver is the former Lt. Chief Detective at Boonville Police Department. He takes over for Jim Gholson, who is retiring. Gholson spent 41 years on the force.

Mayor Protem Mark Livingston said in a news release, "Welliver has served the community for over twenty years and has successfully risen through the ranks of the chain of command. We look forward to his continued leadership as our next chief."
