BOONVILLE - The Boonville Pirates hosted Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish on Friday for the High School Baseball Class 3 State Quarterfinals. Both teams came into Friday's game with a record of 22-4.

The Fighting Irish got things going in the third inning when Calvin Roebuck took Grant Davis deep, scoring three, extending the lead to 4-0.

Boonville would answer in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded Zack Huckabee hit a ground ball and an error by Springfield Catholic lets two score, cutting the lead in half to 4-2.

Springfield Catholic was too powerful for the Pirates who struggled at the plate and beat Boonville 5-4.
