BOONVILLE - The Boonville Fire Department finished its move Friday into its new facility. Firefighters were able to begin the move-in process on Monday after construction was completed.

The new facility was built on the the same ground as the previous firehouse. Total cost of the project was $2 million. Fire Chief Tim Carmichael said the city needed the new facility.

"The old station was pretty well a residential structure, you know. It had a living room, kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom, a garage area, which we were able to get four pieces of equipment in there, but it was really tight. It was probably one third of the size of what our apparatus is now," Carmichael said.

The chief also said, "We are at a one hundred percent. We are ready to go. Like I said, we have all our radio and television lines up and its just back to normal business, as usual."

An open house will be held at the fire station on October 9, beginning at 1 p.m.

The public is welcomed.
