Boonville Gears Up for Season
Parsons has been coaching at Boonville for eight years, but this is his first at the helm.
"It has been a little bit different, but it's been exciting and it's been fun. I think the kids have had a lot of fun during two-a-days. We've worked them really hard and I think we've got quite a bit better," said Head Coach Parsons.
The players say it's been easy adjusting to their new coach.
"He's just an all around great guy. The kids love him and he knows what he's talking about. So, I'm pretty enthused about this year," commented Justin Oswald, a Senior Lineman for Boonville.
The new head Pirate will get a stiff test in week one against Grain Valley, a playoff team that pounded the Pirates 48-12 last season. Last year's result doesn't damper the players', or Parson's, excitement.
"Well it's always a big game because Grain Valley is always a big competition. We got a lot of film on them, and we know a lot of their plays, so I'm looking forward to it. I think we have a pretty good chance," added Boonville Senior Wide Receiver Cody McFatrich.
"But from what we have seen, they are a very beatable football team. I think if we just keep practicing like we are and stay enthusiastic, we can get the job done," responded Oswald.
If we achieve what we think we can achieve, we can be really successful at the end of the year," commented Parsons.
