SEDALIA -An accident at the Missouri State Fair Speedway left five injured after a race car reportedly flew off the track and into the infield a little after 9 p.m. Sunday night.
Sedalia Police and Fire Departments confirmed the accident happened at the state fairgrounds and that two helicopters responded, as well as ambulances.
A 57-year-old white male from Columbia, Missouri was airlifted with a helicopter and taken to a Columbia hospital, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He is in serious condition. A 27-year-old white female from California, Missouri was taken by ground to a Sedalia, Missouri hospital. She is in moderate condition. And a 34-year-old white female from California, Missouri was also taken to a Columbia hospital by ground. She is in serious condition. The driver was not injured. Two others had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
