Breckenridge Hills Scraps Plan to Eliminate Police
BRECKENRIDGE HILLS (AP) - A small city in St. Louis County has decided not to shut down its police department to save money.
KMOV-TV reports that the mayor of Breckenridge Hills suggested paying a neighboring city such as St. Ann to patrol the community in hopes of saving $400,000 a year.
Mayor Jack Shrewsbury says that the nearly $2 million the city collects annually from county taxes doesn't cover the costs for police in Breckenridge Hills.
