LOUISIANA (AP) - A Mississippi River crossing connecting northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois is open again after repairs to damage caused by a fatal wreck in December.
The Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana, Mo., opened Wednesday afternoon, two days ahead of schedule. The Missouri Department of Transportation closed the 84-year-old bridge on April 27 and originally planned to keep it closed until Friday.
The fatal December accident is the subject of a lawsuit filed by the victim's family against the truck driver who struck her car.
