Businesses transition from Halloween to Christmas
COLUMBIA – Halloween has come and gone, and business owners have already begun preparing for Christmas on Sunday.
Businesses in downtown Columbia are giving customers a head start on their Christmas shopping.
Decorations in downtown Columbia businesses are apparent, one Columbia visitor said it's too soon.
“For me it’s always been if it’s after Thanksgiving it’s okay for Christmas decorations,” Katrina Aliano said. “It’s too early, but I still love Christmas.”
Lisa Klenke, owner of Calhoun's says that business has always been this way.
"Every year we have people that comment oh Christmas is coming earlier and earlier every year but I've been in this business 25 years, Christmas comes at the same time, we start getting ready for it at the same time,” Klenke said. “What people don't realize is we need to be ready when they're ready. For us to get ready we have to start a little earlier."
The switch from costumes to Christmas trees has already begun.
