California man drowns in Lake of the Ozarks
MORGAN COUNTY - A California man drowned in the Lake of the Ozarks Saturday due to a speculated medical emergency.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Raymond Duff, 52, of Winnetka, California, voluntarily jumped out of a water vessel about 4 feet. from the shoreline. The non-swimmer was struck by a large wake that pulled him under.
Responders arrived and took Duff to Lake Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although not confirmed by the coroner, medical responders believe Duff experienced a panic attack from the shock of the wake which could have lead to a heart attack.
The drowning occurred in 3 feet of water. Duff was not wearing a personal flotation device.
