Callaway County man sentenced for illegal possession of firearms
JEFFERSON CITY - A 54-year-old Auxvasse man was sentenced to federal prison Thursday for illegal possession of firearms.
Billy Bush Owen received 18 months without parole, according to a press release from the Western District prosecutor. The judge also ordered Owen to pay a $3,600 fine.
The Mid-Missouri Unified Strike Team and Narcotics Group (MUSTANG) was investigating Owen and searched his home in December 2015. Officers found 21 firearms, three silencers and 9,337 rounds of ammunition.
Possession of firearms and ammunition is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony. Owen had previous felony convictions for transporting a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon by an addict, the release said.
Owen admitted he owned the firearms and silencers. Officers also found and seized $35,109, digital scales, a drug ledger and nearly 22 pounds of marijuana from Owen's residence.
