Camel Rescued from Missouri Mud
DE SOTO, Mo. (AP) - Emergency animal responders in Missouri don't get a lot of calls to rescue camels, especially a camel up to the belly in mud.
But such was the case Tuesday in the eastern Missouri town of De Soto. KSDK-TV reports that the animal rescue group Missouri Emergency Response Service was able to get the camel out of the mud, and the animal is recovering.
The camel is part of a petting zoo in De Soto. Rescuers say that by the time they arrived, the camel was unable to move and its breathing was labored.
It wasn't clear how the camel ended up in the mud.
