Camels, steers missing after alleged theft
COLUMBIA - Two camels and two steers are missing after an alleged theft at the 1100 block of Botner Road in Columbia.
Boone County Detective Chris Lester said the camels and steers were last seen Monday at 11:00 a.m.
The animals' owner said he believes someone brought a trailer and then lured the animals inside. He also said the gates to his land were left open.
The male camels are 3 1/2-years-old, tan-colored and 9 feet tall with double humps.
Detective Lester said it is not known if the camels are tattooed or micro chipped.
The two 900-pound Black Angus steer have tags on their right ears with the numbers 96 and 97.
The animals' owner said the camels and steers are worth about $20,000.
