JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Ethics Commission has chosen to wait a little longer before deciding how it will enforce a ruling reinstating campaign contribution limits. Commissioners want to allow time to analyze campaign finance reports due October 15th to determine exactly how much money candidates received in over-the-limit contributions. On July 19th, the Missouri Supreme Court struck down a law that had repealed contribution limits as of the start of this year. The court left the decision in the hands of the Ethics Commission to decide whether individual candidates must return money received before then that exceeded the reimposed limits. Commissioners plan to meet again in early November.
