COLUMBIA - Friends and family of Treveon Marshall gathered at McKee Park with members of the community for a candlelight vigil for Marshall Tuesday night.

Marshall, a 17-year-old former Hickman High School student, was shot and killed in the park Sunday night.

The vigil included prayers and challenges to the crowd to help end violence by cooperating with the police investigation and banding together as a community.

The family is accepting donations to help pay for Marshall's burial. The family needs to raise about $6,000 for the total expenses. Donations can be made at Boone County National bank in Treveon Marshall's name.

Columbia police are investigating Marshall's death as a homicide but have not release any information about possible suspects.
