Car catches on fire, three sent to hospital in Boone County crash
BOONE COUNTY - A car caught on fire and three people were taken to the hospital in a crash east of Columbia late Saturday night, Boone County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Ken Boyce said.
Units from the Boone County Fire Protection District, University Hospital Ambulance Service and Boone Hospital Ambulance Service responded to the 8100 block of Richland Road, east of Tradewinds Parkway, at 11 p.m. according to Boone County Joint Communications.
An SUV and sedan were involved in the crash; the sedan ended up in the ditch and caught fire. Firefighters put out the blaze.
Those taken to the hospital had non-life-threatening injuries, Boyce said.
Deputies from BCSD's traffic unit were leading the crash investigation. Boyce said the investigation was not complete as of Saturday night.
The Columbia Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted deputies at the scene.
