COLUMBIA- As the cold temperatures continues to drop in Missouri, cars require extra attention.

Auto mechanics have seen more cars coming to the shop with cold weather problems.

"We have seen an increase on the batteries of cars not able to hold up," says Auto Mechanic Russ Mutrux of Columbia.  "When the weather is warm a weak battery can make due with it, but as the weather gets colder it is more critical to have a good battery that's able to crank the engine and bear the cold weather."

People traveling to Missouri from warmer climates need to check their vehicles. Many of those cars are not well protected against the Missouri weather.

Mutrux said its important to check batteries, tire pressure, oil, and the anti-freeze before bearing the cold on the road.
