Cattle Truck Overturns, 25 Cattle Dead
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) -- A cattle truck overturned on Interstate 29 in northwest Missouri, closing a section of the highway for about four hours and killing several cattle.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the truck overturned about 5:30 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes of the interstate south of St. Joseph, near Faucett. Traffic was rerouted for hours, causing a major backup on the interstate.
A temporary holding pen was set up and the about 90 cattle in the car were cut out. KSHB-TV reports that the highway patrol says about 25 of the cattle died.
The highway was reopened about 11 a.m. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The patrol says the cause of the accident has not been determined.
