COLUMBIA - Some residents at the Brookside Apartment Complex on the corner of College and Walnut moved into their new apartments Saturday. But not all of the units are ready for tenants after a blaze caused an estimated $7 million in damages.
Investigators are still uncertain what caused the May 27th structure fire at 1221 East Walnut.
Brookside agreed to lease rooms from Stephens College for the residents who could not move in Saturday. Those residents are expected to move into the apartment complex in mid-October.
Investigators say even though they've spent hundreds of man hours trying to determine the cause of the fire, the investigation is still ongoing.
Investigators are urging anyone with information that they haven't shared to contact Crime Stoppers at 573-875-TIPS or the Fire Marshal's Division at 573-874-7556.
