Charges Filed 32 Years After Rape in Southeast Mo.
JACKSON, Mo. (AP) - A man already in prison for a long history of sexual assaults is now charged with another, a rape that occurred more than three decades ago in southeast Missouri.
Cape Girardeau County prosecutors on Thursday announced that the new charge was filed against 55-year-old Daryl Davis.
The Southeast Missourian reports that Davis is a St. Louis native already serving nine life sentences at the Potosi Correctional Center for 16 felony offenses. Those offenses include eight convictions for rape and one for forcible sodomy. All of those crimes happened in the St. Louis area in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Davis is now accused of raping a 19-year-old woman in Cape Girardeau on Oct. 29, 1980. Police and prosecutors have not said what led to the new charge.
