Chiefs Rack Up Interceptions
For the second consecutive week, interceptions have come in bunches for the Chiefs, and their translating into victories.
"At the beginning of the year we had great coverage, but we weren't really coming up with the plays, but now guys are making plays and coming up with the ball," Chiefs corner back Patrick Surtain said. "You know all season we knew we had that kind of defense and we were getting the fumbles we just weren't getting the picks but now they're coming at the right time of the season in December when we really need turnovers."
First it was four interceptions from Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl Champs. This time around, it was the league leading Denver Broncos, where quarterback Jake Plummer had only thrown four interceptions all season. Until the Chiefs got him for two. These interceptions have come at a very critical time and they need to continue in order for the Chiefs to make a strong playoff push.
Chiefs linebacker Kawika Mitchell commented, "Yeah it's about time, I dropped about four of those things and I was due for one of them and I finally got one and held on to it."
And held on to it they have. Over the past two games, the Chiefs have racked up six total interceptions, which is the same amount they have in all the other previous games combined. The Chiefs are now one game behind the Broncos and they visit the Dallas Cowboys Sunday.
