FULTON - Around 75 children got their faces painted, jumped in a bounce house, ate hot dogs, and created art projects Saturday at the fifth annual Ashley Garrett Memorial Children's Art Festival, remembering a daycare teacher who passed away in a car accident six years ago.
Ashley Garrett was a daycare teacher in Fulton. She emphasized the importance of art in her curriculum and loved kids. Her mother and two sisters created the Auxvasse Creative Arts Program after her passing. It aims to bring arts to rural children in Callaway County in Auxvasse and Fulton. The organization sponsors events like Saturday's art festival so kids can experiment with art at no cost.
