Children's Safety Fair
"Lowes Heroes" held a fair to attract young Columbians in the parking lot of Lowes in Columbia Saturday.
The fire department, police department, Black Hawk team, and ROTC were there, along with other groups. Participants were able to watch a B-2 stealth bomber fly over, and talk to different officers.
Organizers say even though this was a fun event, they hope children are taking away an important message.
"We want to make sure every single kid knows about the different safety practices that we're teaching," explained Thomas Gallihugh of Lowes Heroes. "And we're just wanting to go one step farther than a lot of schools, and just really want to reach out."
People could get safety items like smoke detectors and children's gates for free. This is the third annual safety fair.
