Chocolate Dreams in Callaway County
"I was very impressed with 'Willie Wonka' and I actually wanted a room like they had in the movie where everything was edible," said Diane Branch, the owner of Sweet Temptations candy store. "But, of course, in the real world you can't really do that."
However, Branch came close after moving to Fulton almost 40 years ago, then teaching and running her own daycare for 22 years.
"I wanted a change, but I still wanted to see kids," she recalled. "So naturally, where would there be a place to have children but in a candy store?"
So, Branch built her own chocolate factory, Sweet Temptations.
"It seems like I've been with children my whole life, so it was just important for me to be around kids," she explained. "They love it. They think this is the greatest thing that ever was."
And they're not the only ones who get a kick out of this candy store.
"I just love it. I look at all the candy every time I come in here," Branch admitted. "As far as I know, there's never been a full-fledged candy store here in Fulton."
Needless to say, her grandchildren love the place.
"They come in for grandma's candy so they always have their hands ready to grab anything they can," said Branch.
