Christmas carolers spread holiday spirit through hospital halls
JEFFERSON CITY - Hospital employees put a holiday twist to 'Bring Your Kid to Work Day' Sunday evening.
Over 20 children of SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital employees and staff dressed-up as angels, roamed the hospital's halls and sang Christmas carols for patients.
"I feel really good about it because I got to make some of these people's days better," Tanner Allen Gardner, a volunteer caroler, said.
The event was coordinated by the St. Mary's Hospital Mission Awareness Team. Organizer Jane Frank said the hospital has held the tradition for over 50 years.
Frank Enloe, a patient at St. Mary's Hospital, said he appreciated the carolers for bringing him something he's missed while hospitalized.
"I love Christmas music, and I didn't get to go to my church this morning for the Christmas program, so I was just really tickled that I got to hear them singing," Enloe said. "That was great."
Organizers said the hospital will continue parading carolers for future patients during upcoming holiday seasons.
