Christmas to Arrive in the Capital City

JEFFERSON CITY - The capital city plans to ring in the holiday season with several events that begin Friday evening.

The governor and first lady will light the Christmas tree Friday. The Eastern Red Cedar will start to glow at the Governor's Mansion Friday at 6:30pm. Candlelight tours of the mansion will follow and last until 9pm.

The holiday spirit will continue into Saturday as the Jefferson City Jaycees put on the Rock 'n Roll Christmas parade. The Jaycees plan to shut down Main Street at 4:30pm on Saturday with dozens of floats, live music and Santa Claus himself.

Sunday will wrap the weekend's holiday festivities with a concert that will benefit Habitat for Humanity. The event will feature holiday music sung by area choirs in honor of Habitat's 80th Local Build. 

All events listed are free of charge.
