Church Murder Suspect Faces Rape Charge
SPRINGFIELD (AP) - The man accused of a southwest Missouri church massacre is now also charged with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. Newton County prosecutors filed the new charges today against 52-year-old Eiken Elam Saimon of Neosho. A sheriff's department investigator says the teenage girl alleged that Saimon was mad at her for stealing his car and wrecking it the night before. The girl says Saimon attacked her as punishment. Saimon is charged with second-degree statutory rape and second-degree statutory sodomy, both felonies. Saimon is being held without bond on three counts of murder and related charges for the August 12th shooting in a church in Neosho. Three leaders of a local community of South Pacific immigrants from Micronesia were killed. Saimon is also Micronesian.
