Citizen Leads Police to Suspected Mo. Bank Robber
CLARENCE, Mo. (AP) - A northeast Missouri bank robbery suspect is in custody thanks to an alert citizen.
The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that the Community State Bank in Clarence was robbed Thursday afternoon. A suspect showed a gun, demanded money, then ran out of the bank.
A citizen saw a man matching the description of the robber get into a blue Pontiac. The citizen followed the Pontiac as it drove to Shelby County roads, and notified police.
Officers found the car abandoned on a county road, then set up a search. Police dogs found a suspect, who was taken into custody.
Authorities say 26-year-old Cody Barber of Moulton, Iowa, is charged with first-degree robbery and is jailed.
Clarence is about 50 miles west of Hannibal.
