COLUMBIA - Mayor Bob McDavid and the Columia City Council decided on two big issues Monday night -- the EEZ board and possible demolition of the Niedermeyer house.
The city council unanimously voted to dissolve the EEZ board, ending a battle to create a city enterprise zone that would allow property tax reductions and state tax credits to certain businesses.
Also, council members decided to table B375-12 to suspend demolition permits in the Downtown Community Improvement District, affecting the possible Niedermeyer house demolition. The city decided to table it for two weeks to allow CID and Downtown Leadership Council to voice their opinions. Mayor Bob McDavid said he has already received two letters threatening to sue the city if the bill was passed.
After those two issues were off the table, the majority of citizens attending the meeting left.
