COLUMBIA - The Columbia City Council will hold a public hearing regarding the third phase of the east side sidewalk project at its meeting Monday night on July 16th. The project will replace sidewalks on certain streets in downtown Columbia as well as renovate other sidewalks to make them ADA compatible.
Some of the affected streets include Windsor, Pratt and Locust. A small portion of Broadway Boulevard is also part of the project. The city completed phase II of the project in 2010 and said that it has received a lot of support from the community. The entire project will cost approximately $307,000 with funding coming from the Community Development Block Grant.
Dr. Kristin Re, an intern for The City of Columbia, identified the sidewalks during an ADA compliance study. The affected sidewalks were selected because of their proximity to certain facilities such as Freedom House, Paquin Tower, and Boone County Family Resources.
