Clark man found guilty of child molestation and enticement
CHARITON COUNTY -- Alonzo Bernard Thorpe of Clark, Missouri was found guilty of eight counts of child molestation and two counts of child enticement on Jan. 19 after a two-day jury trial.
The case stemmed from multiple sexual assaults against two Randolph County children between April 2011 and February 2014.
The children, along with their infant sister, were placed in the foster care system on Valentine's Day 2014 as a result of domestic violence and other issues in their home.
In August of 2014, two of the children disclosed the abuse to a foster parent and later to a counselor, local investigators and a forensic interviewer from the Child Advocacy Center in Columbia.
Thorpe was originally charged in Randolph County but requested a change to Chariton County for his trial. After the verdict was reached, Judge Andrea Vandeloecht set a new cash-only bond of $50,000.
Thorpe is scheduled for sentencing on March 15 in Chariton County.
