CMHS Holds Black-Out Friday 13th Adoption Event
COLUMBIA -The Central Missouri Humane Society held a Friday the 13th adoption event called Black-Out. All black animals were only $50 to adopt, which is down from the normal $100 fee for dogs and $75 for cats. During the 13th hour from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. the price got even lower and black pets were only $13.
The shelter says it held the event because it normally has more black animals than other colors.
"There's almost a stigma of people being superstitious or something like that you know the whole stereotype of black cats and so especially with this event we're trying to lift that stigma and superstition a little bit," said CMHS spokesperson Colin Lavaute.
By 5 p.m. on Friday, eight animals left the shelter adopted.
