CMU Men Win Knox College Open, Women Place Second

GALESBURG, IL - The Central Methodist men's track and field team won the Knox College Open on Saturday. The Eagle women's track and field team earned a second place finish.

The men's team posted 129 points to cruise past second place McKendree by 35. The women's team tallied 106 points, coming up second to Beloit's 129.

On the men's side, Central Methodist's D.J. Jackson hit the National "A" Standard in the 60 meter dash, placing second overall in 6.86 seconds and missing the school record by .02 seconds. Kyle Jones hit the National "B" Standard in the high jump, taking first place after clearing 2.0 meters.

On the women's side, Stephanie Atkinson took the top spot in the pole vault after clearing 3.15 meters. Shelby Garrigus placed third in the 60 meter dash and set a new personal record with a time of 8.33 seconds.

Central Methodist takes part in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships next Friday and Saturday at Graceland (Iowa).
