FAYETTE, MO -- The Fayette community has proudly supported Central Methodist University since 1854. On Tuesday night, the Eagles took time out to return the favor.

The Central Methodist athletic department proudly presented a check for $1000 to the Fayette Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry on Tuesday between the women's and men's basketball games.

Central Methodist's student-athletes, coaches and athletic staff selected the Fayette Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry as its primary charity for 2012-13. The donations were collected during Central Methodist home athletic contests and the Eagle Lunch Hour from Sept. 1-Oct. 31.

"One our strategic goals for the athletic department is to continue to give back to our local community," Central Methodist athletic director Ken Oliver stated. "This fall, our Champions of Character student-athlete council collected $1,000 in donations."

Central Methodist athletic administrative assistant Sherry Wells and assistant athletic directors Fred Smith and Pat Reardon presented the check to Jill Chandler, Director of the Fayette Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.

The Fayette Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry serves income eligible and disabled residents of the Fayette, New Franklin, Armstrong and Boonsboro areas.
