CMU's Rupard recognized for her play
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Central Methodist University's Michele Rupard was named the 2014 Diamond Sports NAIA Catcher of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and Diamond Sports Friday.
Rupard, a junior from Kansas City, Mo., led the Eagles in seven offensive categories last season. She posted a .402 batting average, hit seven home runs and drove in 29 RBIs. Rupard also excelled on the defensive side, making just two errors in 223 chances behind the plate.
Rupard, a member of both the NFCA and NAIA All-America first teams, was the first selection for the award in school history.
