Columbia Braces for 33rd Annual Bikers Roundup
COLUMBIA - Columbia businesses are stocking their shelves preparing for an influx of motorcycle enthusiasts.
The 33rd annual National Bikers Roundup is expected to bring about 35,000 visitors to the Boone County Fairgrounds. The roundup is Tuesday through Saturday night.
The Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau has told retailers to be prepared for the influx. Organizers said some businesses in cities that hosted previous roundups ran out of gas and sold out of camping equipment and packaged meals.
Mark Sexton, manager of a convenience store, told The Columbia Daily Tribune that his store is ground zero for the roundup because it's at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Missouri 63. But he isn't worried about running, and says the inventory is as loaded as it's ever been.
