COLUMBIA - After many years of service to her community, former Columbia City Council member Almeta Crayton is now getting some help for her self.

The Fairview Road Church of Christ is remodeling Crayton's home. Jerry Templer, a church member, said the church is very involved in community service and tries to do one big project each year. He said once people heard Crayton was in need, it was an obvious choice to help her out.

Crayton is a long time advocate for the community. She was on city council for nine years and is involved in other community activities such as her Thanksgiving food drive. Crayton said she is beyond blessed to receive this help.

" When they said they wanted to help me it was the prayer I have been praying for and I did not think anybody was listening," said Crayton.

She said that after all these years of giving to the community, it feels good to be on the other end

The home remodeling is scheduled to be complete on Saturday.
