Columbia College Names First Cross Country Coach

COLUMBIA - Columbia College named Tim Cornell the new head coach of the school's Cross Country team Friday.

Cornell is a native of Columbia and attended Hickman High School and will head both the Men's and Women's teams. The school added cross country to the athletics program in August.

In high school, Cornell was a two-time cross country state champion in high school and also a 1600-meter champion in track. Cornell went on to compete at the University of Missouri where he earned Academic All-Big -12 a dozen times. He also was a three-time All-Big-12 selection competing in the 1500-meter, mile run and the 4000-meter distance medley.

The team will start competing in the 2012-13 season running in the American Midwest Conference as a part of NAIA athletics.
