Columbia College softball ranks second in latest poll
COLUMBIA - The Columbia College softball team ranked second in the new 2017 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 poll after ranking third last week.
The team currently has a 25-4 record and is 10-0 in conference play. They rank first in the NAIA in runs batted per game (8.069).
Carly Spalding leads the team in stolen bases (33) and in batting average (0.504). She is also the reigning AMC Player of the Week. Lauren McCroskie and Paxton Welch lead the team in pitching. Both have helped contribute to double-digit wins this season. McCroskie is currently 12-1 in 13 starts this season and ranks 23rd nationally with a 1.35 ERA. Welch is currently 10-3 in 14 starts this season and has a 1.49 ERA.
The Cougars will face Park University in Parkville, Missouri in an AMC doubleheader on Wednesday, April 5 at 2 p.m.
