Columbia Completes Sewer Smoke Testing
COLUMBIA - Columbia Public Works officials announced the city has completed its sewer smoke testing Monday.
The smoke testing began earlier this summer as a part of the city's attempt to prevent storm water inflows into the city's sanitary sewer system.
Large inflows of storm water increases the demand on waste water treatment facilities and can cause backup of sewers into basements and other low places in homes and businesses.
