Columbia Considers Radar-Gun Loan Program
COLUMBIA (AP) - Columbia residents concerned about speeding cars in their neighborhoods may soon be able to borrow radar guns from the city to monitor dangerous drivers.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that the city Public Works Department is considering whether to make three radar guns available to residents as a way of measuring local traffic patterns and identifying trouble spots.
Traffic engineer Lee White says the department would likely require residents to leave a $200 deposit to borrow the devices.
