COLUMBIA - Columbia Water & Light has extended the comment period for citizens to give their input on transmission lines the city looks to build in the southern part of the city.
The deadline to complete the survey was set for the end of 2012, but Water & Light officials are extending it to Feb. 1, as the survey had only 107 respondents. The department is looking for feedback to determine which route is most acceptable and whether overhead or underground lines are desired.
The city is looking to build the lines to connect the new Mill Creek substation with existing substations. Prefered routes have for both Option A and B have been determined, as well as Option B-2.
Maps and information about these routes can be found here.
Advantages, disadvantages and cost estimates can be found in presentation slides from the November public meeting.
