COLUMBIA - Despite the cold and snow it's time to spring forward again Sunday. The Columbia Fire Department is using this time of year to remind residents that while changing clocks, change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. The Columbia Fire Department said:

- 4.5 million homes do not have smoke alarms.

-Out of those that do, 25 million have non working smoke alarms.

-A working smoke alarm can give critical seconds that could potentially save lives.
