Columbia Firefighters Respond to Fire at Denny's

COLUMBIA - The Columbia Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Denny's restaurant in Columbia off Knipp Street near the mall. It happened Thursday around 8:40 a.m. 

Firefighters found a small fire behind the water heater. The department said crews put out the fire quickly. 

The department evacuated the restaurant and is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
